Fabian hat wieder einen Fragebogen verschickt. Dieses Mal antworten die Cyberpunkers. Die italienischen Elektro-Helden kommen am 17. September zur So Not Berlin-Clubnacht ins Crux.

Cyberpunkers (Freakz Me Out Records / Mailand)

1. How did you get into music?

Good question! It’s always been our passion since we were children. We started very early to appreciate the world of the music and working into it so, music proudly became our life. As in any other profession it takes a lot of passion, intelligence, and also a bit of luck; it is always important to believe in what you are going to do and our perseverance has made all that we have right now to be possible. When we met in 2006, we had the chance to start the “Cyberpunkers” project and so we could seriously give vent to our irresistible desire to spread  our passion.

2. What is your first musical reminiscence?

Using an Italian way of saying, we grew up with bread, rock and 90’s techno music! Rock and punk bands such as Sex Pistols, Ramones, The Clash, Korn, Nirvana, The Offspring, System Of A Down, Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Tricky, but also Michael Jackson (R.I.P.) who, to us, will always be an idol.

3. What makes your sound unique?

As all music producers do, we try to keep our style unique to let people recognize our tracks. We started our production with Virtual Instrument and some digital synths like Virus or Nord Lead than we switched to full analogical synth; now, in studio, we use a Moog Voyager, an Alesis Andromeda and a Dave Smith Prophet 08 adding distortion using guitar pedals. Since we began to use to analogical we have had the feeling that we have made a big step forward and now we are very satisfied for the result that we had obtained using these machines. We prefer to do post-production (mixing and master’s) in our studio, because we never find someone who is totally in tune with our project. All our tracks are and will be made and finished entirely by us.

4. Are there any djs who has influenced your music?

It would be an endless list ☺; First of all Daft Punk, masters of electronic music, but also Chemical Brothers, Prodigy and Beastie Boys.

5. You´ve already worked with a lot of people – who has inspired you the most?

Nobody in particular. Working with other artists makes you grow up from an artistic and musical point of view, but this is not enough to inspire you for your future productions. Of course, meeting Djs and promoters all around the world gives us an entire global vision of the electronic  movement that changes from a continent to another.

6. With who would you like to play? (Who would you like to play with?)

We’d love to do a back to back with boys Noize, or Justice. At this moment they’re the electronic artists that we appreciate the most.

7. A lot of DJs prefer mp3 instead of vinyl – what do you think about this development?

The use of vinyl has a special charme: it reminds us our first gigs as DJs, but now we think it is uncomfortable, in particular on long trips. We’re still connected to the “old school” of CDs (we do not use anymore vinyl), but during our sets and our “live exhibitions” we use a Mac. The spread of mp3 has brought to the use of technology and laptops during a dj set and this is a good thing for the new Dj generation, because it allows to have an imaginative and technical performance. Vinyl was the past but from now on the use of  digital media is increasing; ipad and iphone are the examples of what I’m saying.

8. What is the different between the Italian electro scene and the rest?

No difference! In Italy, two or three years ago, the so called Fidget House / Nu Rave scene (this is how our style is named) has developed a lot; in particular after the success of Justice, two French djs that created a new version of 70’s old tracks with their new electro “Daft Punk style” letting the world know this sound. In Italy this is considered a new style that does not includes only music, but that became a real  “way of life” with punk, hip hop and techno influences. In other countries, in France for example (where this style was born), this reality has been existing from many years. So, we will be free to say that the underground scene is going to become an “outlet” for the new generation of clubbers, now tired of ordinary and usual music.

9. What kind of music do you hear to relax?

Our relax is “not listening to music”. In our spare time (when we have spare time…) we love rollerblading and spending some time with our friends. Stress is part of our life and our work: we get along well together with it!

10. What can we excpect from you in the future? What will come next, what can we expect from you?

We finishing our new EP that will be release in Dicember 2010 by the German Label Freakz Me Out. M r. Ingo, the label manager, has immediately believed in us and in our Cyberpunkers project, giving it a lot of importance and improving it and so, we think that keeping on woking with his label could be a good way to improve what we have done recently. If we talk about an album to be released, we have to admit that, after recent development and growth, we have realized that it is not the right time yet. We’ll continue our expansion with new singles, remixes for famous artists and gigs all around the world. After we finish to sow, we will be able to thing about the harvest!

Cyberpunkers werden am 17.09.2010 beim nächsten So Not Berlin Event im Crux sein! Weitere Infos dazu folgen in Kürze!
