MICHAEL REINBOTH (Compost, München)
Seit 1980 leistet Michael Reinboth Pionierarbeit.
Abitur 1979 in dem berühmt-berüchtigten Gymnasium Tellkampfschule Hannover. Michael war im selben Jahrgang mit Regierungssprecher Steffen Seibert (seit der 5. Klasse) und „Die Zeit“-Chefredakteur Giovanni Di Lorenzo). 1980 gründete Michael Reinboth die Zeitschrift „Elaste“. 1982 zog es die gesamte Elaste Crew nach München. Dort studierte er gleichzeitig mit Giovanni Di Lorenzo Diplom Journalistik. Nach dem Vordiplom brach Michael Reinboth das Studium ab, weil er rund um die Uhr – insbesondere nachts im Tanzlokal Größenwahn und P1 Schalplatten auflegte – und tagsüber vollends mit „Elaste“ beschäftigt war. Die Unbedenklichkeitsbescheinigung mit der Michael sein Diplom Studiengang angehen konnte, erlangte er auf Grund von vorrausgehender journalistischer Tätigkeit für bsw. den Stern, Spiegel, Musikexpress. Sein Tutor an der LMU München und dem praktischen Teil bei der Süddeutschen Zeitung sagte nach Bestanden des Vordiplom: „Sie brauchen doch gar kein Studium, Sie sind doch schon mitten drin.“ Über den Kult von „Elaste“ als auch Michael Reinboths Vita kann man auch in den von Michael Reinboth verfassten Linernotes zum 25 Jährigen Bestehen von Compost Records nachlesen. Die liegen der 10xLP Box-Set „25 Compost Records“ bei. Es folgten viele Jahre, die Michael Reinboth als DJ, Musikjournalist, Veranstalter, „Minister für Music & Nightlife“ und mit Radio Sendungen verbrachte, bis er 1993 sein erstes Label Compost Records ins Leben rief.
THOMAS HERB (Compost, München)
DJ and Producer Thomas Herb has been a mainstay of Munichs vibrant electronic music scene for quite a while. Starting in 1996 he soon became resident DJ in his hometown at the seminal Friday night event „Flokati“ held in club legends Ultraschall and Harry Klein.
Thomas built a strong reputation as a DJ merging soul-injected house, techno and disco into a musical
journey. Always far from being one-dimesional, deep, quality tracks will always be given airtime. His
spontanous mixing is never constrained by any genre boundaries and the result, the essence of his
sets, is a versatile blend of true House Music. His ability to combine advanced mixing skills with an
instinctive awareness for the perfect tune at the right time is one of the main reasons why he has been
djing on top of the game for more than a decade. Besides his DJ activities, Thomas Herb is busy
curating for and contributing to Lossless – the record label he’s running with longtime friend Mathias
Schober. With the latter he’s also teaming up for productions, remixes and b2b DJ set’s under their
SBTH moniker.
At the clubfront Thomas' holding a steadily expanding schedule – so he can be found performing at
selected spots in- & out of his hometown: Charlie or Bahnwärter Thiel (both in Munich), Gewölbe
(Cologne), Institut Für Zukunft (Leipzig), ://About Blank and Watergate (Berlin), Batofar (Paris),
Zukunft (Zürich), Sacred Ground Festival (Trampe), Fiction NYC at Analogue and Cityfox at the
Brooklyn Mirage (Brooklyn N.Y.), Castello Festival, CirQ (Venezia) or Lux Frágil (Lisboa) – are some
examples. Over the years Thomas Herb has performed alongside artists like Dixon, Carl Craig,
I:Cube, Karizma, Toto Chiavetta, Ame, Deetron, John Talabot or Osunlade and many more, gaining
invaluable experience and inspiration.
SHAHROKH DINI (Compost Records – Karlsruhe)
Purveyor of regal house goodness – Shahrokh Dini has attracted widespread support throughout his long career, both as DJ and house music producer. He frequently plays Ibiza, and has numerous Berlin residencies. Release-wise the Karlsruhe based artist has graced Sasse’s Moodmusic, Miss Moneypenny Records in the UK and most prominently – Munich based Compost Black Label as well as it’s motherlabel Compost Records through which he has penned several enviable releases, that have boasted support from the likes of Âme, Ron Trent, Jimpster, Dimitri From Paris, Rainer Trueby, Laurent Garnier, Boo Williams, Glenn Underground, Solomun, Frankey & Sandrino, Agoria, Olderic, Maceo Plex, Steve Bug and many, many others besides. Dini has also been prolific when it comes to remixes. Some of the key artists he has worked with over the years including Mateo & Matos, Marbert Rocel, Bar, Simon Flower, Vanessa Daou, LoYoTo, Gabriele Poso, Robert Owens, Tomasz Guiddo, Automat, Al Chem and many more whereas his own recordings received remix treatment by artists like Boo Williams, Delano Smith, Afrilounge, Luna City Express, Martin Lansky, Franck Roger, Roberto Rodriguez, Musumeci and Olderic to name a few.
