mucbook: What exactly is your profession?

Víctor: I used to be a freelance architectural visualizer. You know, a professional in charge of making virtual pictures of buildings before they actually get built. However, after 15 years of career in that field, I got tired of using those skills for just commercial purposes. It was very well paid, but my soul lost any sense of satisfaction for doing it. Now, after 5 years of deciding to quit, I’m still wondering about what job should I do to pay the bills…But I have several skills such as cooking, teaching, computers, languages…let’s say that now I’m just unemployed.

mucbook: Why did you do this project?

Víctor: Well, I got to Munich by recommendation of my friend, freelance journalist, Marlene Halser, whom I met in Israel. She found me a job as a caretaker of a handicapped woman in Munich. For a Spanish unemployed that sounded like a gold mine, so I took my bags and moved to Munich. During the first months I had no permanent living place, so I was jumping from flat to flat. I did, of course, on purpose because it served me to know the city deeper and faster. Actually I have a large bunch of pictures of Munich that have not seen the light yet. During this time I was keeping all my bags in the lockers of the Hauptbahnhof, which expire every 3 days, so I have to be there every 3 days to put more coins into the bloody locker. It was during these visits to the Hauptbahnhof when this building caught my attention. In the other hand, the project, as all the projects I do, gets its final shape as long as it’s being produced, which in this case has been for 6 months. I found interesting to challenge myself to make a huge amount of transformation to one same building, to check out what my limits are. However, I got to pick up a realistic figure, so I took 88, because, as a pianist I am, it’s a number to which I’m closely connected. I lived in Munich from November 2011 until May 2012.
